Advocates for Emergency Medical Services is a coalition of major EMS organizations that was founded October 22, 2002 dedicated to promoting, educating and increasing awareness among decision-makers in Washington on issues affecting EMS providers. AEMS supports all providers of EMS, whether they are fire, hospital, volunteer, third service, or nongovernmental based, by monitoring and influencing legislation and regulatory activity involving EMS and raising awareness among lawmakers on issues of importance to EMS.

Field EMS Bill Introduced
On December 16, 2010, Representatives Tim Walz (D-MN) and Sue Myrick (R-NC) introduced the Field EMS Quality, Innovation, and Cost-Effectiveness Improvement Act of 2010 (H.R. 6528). This bill addresses many of the challenges plaguing field EMS to better fulfill public expectations that all who need emergency medical care in the field can depend upon the highest quality of care and transport to the most appropriate setting. NAEMT invites all EMS professionals to attend the most important advocacy event of 2011 - EMS on the Hill Day. EMS on the Hill Day
provides participants with the opportunity to join with other EMS professionals from across the nation and meet with congressional leaders on Capitol Hill to advocate for the passage of key EMS legislation.
